Mr. Newport received his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law, graduating
cum laude in 1988. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Syracuse University
in 1983, and was a New York State Board of Regents Scholarship recipient.

Joel is an experienced trial attorney, and has extensive involvement in product liability and other complex litigation, including L-Tryptophan, Body Armor, and Asbestos. Joel also is active with respect to legal issues facing the business and high technology communities, including trademark and antitrust litigation.

He is married and has two children.
